Decline & Exit

At UNILEX, we call this Litigation Backbone Services — our name for comprehensive litigation support covering case research, e-discovery, document review, and trial preparation.

UNILEX's Litigation Backbone Services strengthen the groundwork behind every successful case — the research, documentation and organisational work that supports strong representation before the Courts, Tribunals and arbitral bodies across India and the UAE. We assist litigation teams, in-house counsel and individual clients with exactly this kind of preparation.

Who We Work With

UNILEX's Litigation Backbone Services are available in three ways:

  • Direct to clients — individuals, businesses, and in-house legal teams engaging UNILEX directly for the research, documentation, and preparation work behind an active or upcoming matter.
  • In support of other lawyers and law firms — advocates and firms handling their own cases who need additional capacity for document review, e-discovery, deposition and trial bundles, legal research, and drafting. We work under the instructing lawyer's direction, without requiring exclusive carriage of the matter — the engaging advocate remains lead counsel throughout, and our role is confined to the support work requested.
  • As case managers, on a client's behalf — for individuals or corporates who have already engaged their own lawyers but need someone to liaise with counsel, track progress, and supervise the conduct of the matter. Managing a high-stakes case well requires legal judgment that most clients, even sophisticated businesspeople outside the legal profession, are not equipped to exercise on their own. In this role, UNILEX acts as the client's professional oversight, ensuring their appointed lawyers are properly instructed, deadlines are met, and the matter is being run competently on their behalf.

Conflict of Interest & Confidentiality

Before accepting any litigation support brief — whether from a direct client or another lawyer — UNILEX conducts a conflict-of-interest check to confirm the engagement does not compromise confidentiality or breach applicable professional conduct obligations. This screening is a standard first step in every engagement, not an afterthought.

Sourcing the Material That Wins Cases

Many cases with genuine merit fail not for lack of legal argument, but for lack of supporting material at the time it's needed — records that exist, but are scattered across government departments, regulatory authorities, banks, hospitals, or other institutions, and are difficult to locate and obtain in time. A significant part of our litigation support work is precisely this: identifying where the necessary material sits — including case support material held in the Government Central Archives (Central, State, Regional, Forest, and other departmental archives) — pursuing it through the appropriate government or non-government channels, and compiling it into a form that's actually usable for filing, conducting, and winning the case.
